AHSS Presents Finale Event - a conversation with: Nat Powers & ARU Alumnus Lizzie Knott

We invite you to join us for the finale of this academics year AHSS Presents public lectures and our first of this series on campus.

We have a fantastic event lined up for you, with two guest speakers, live music from ARU music students and complimentry food and drinks for you all to enjoy.

Nat Powers -  "Bulletproof Creatives 1.0"

In this talk, Nat will look at his own story as an example of defeating the odds of extreme mental illness, generational trauma, sexual abuse, alcoholism and adoption to become the human and creative he always knew he could be. This talk will look at ways we can all overcome the obstacles thrown at us, and learn how to withstand bigger pressures and erase self-doubt to flourish in our aims and goals in life. 


Bio
Nat Powers is a multi-platinum, Grammy Nominated British music producer and songwriter. He has worked with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang, Run DMC, Professor Green, Giggs, Kano, D Double E, Ashley Walters, Greentea Peng, Idris Elba, Maxi Priest, and many others. He also produced the world's first Grime Ballet and has spoken and mentored in over 13 countries globally, including a TEDtalk and various events at Yale, Harvard and two continental speaking tours. 

Lizzie Knott - BA Illustration 2020 Graduate

Lizzie will be talking about her journey towards being a freelance illustrator since graduating in 2020 and how she has worked with the clients that she has so far. She will also be discussing her recent position as a children's book designer and what she has been learning along the way. In terms of projects, Lizzie will be talking about her recent work with Comic Relief, as well as lockdown content with the BBC.

Bio

Lizzie Knott is an illustrator and children’s book designer at Usborne Publishing. Within her work, Lizzie often depicts the themes of mental health, diversity and the LGBTQ+ community.

Her clients include Comic Relief and the BBC. In 2020 she won a Highly Commended World Illustration Award for her London Underground themed project titled ‘The Way For All’ which she completed in her final term at ARU.

We will have a live performance from Ant Rubery, BA Popular Music graduate.

Food & Drinks
There will be complimentary nibbles and a selection of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks for event guests to enjoy.
